Honor to the Sentient World
From Durango, Co on 09/10/20 by Leigh LaRue
Searching for meaning in this senseless world
Wishing for something, anything that would offer peace
If I did drugs I’d be under a bridge or below the dirt
Instead, I stuff it all down in hopes to appease
The spirits within that haunt my head
Clear it’s become, me it’s not about
Most of the time all I can feel is dread
A bigger cause is seeking me out
Mother Earth and her life that does not speak
The four-legged, the birds, the water and trees
Calls to my soul, in not a whisper but a shriek
I see you and feel you, I fall to my knees
I feel your pain and wish to heal
Your agony you thought went unheard,
The long suffering that within you feel
We humans whose ignorance is absurd
So backwards to the innate, I wish to appeal
To the sentient world that we ignore
Not all of us are blind, you see
If it weren’t for you I’d be dead and gone
Without your grace we would no longer be
I pray for healing of all life, a new dawn
